Where have I been?...
I have looked at my blog several times in the last year. Each view reminding me to...stop...regroup...and breath. I have finally graduated with my 4 year degree. That was in January, now it's December. What have I been doing? I had to really think about the last 11 months and realized that my work project has been very demanding. Becoming a paperless clinic and working with the government "meaningful use" program is very time consuming...yet professionally rewarding. In addition, I was blessed to be part of my father's life while caring for my mother during her last 9 weeks of hospice. She was released from Alzheimer's and returned to rejoice with her Savior on May 5, 2014.NOW WHAT?? I have recommitted to being "aware" of life each day and truly enjoy all the experiences of this journey. I have rediscovered a book my mother-in-law gave to me over 10 years ago--A Simple Abundant Life--which will now take a permanent spot on my nightstand. Over the last year I have gotten to know a young girl, Nico, which has spurred a bug in me to get back to my love of paper crafting. I learned she really enjoys baking and even though it's unusual for a pre-teen to embrace baking, her spark for baking ignited my spark; and I truly thank her. So, tonight I made for her a small matchbook recipe holder which she can use to document her favorite recipes. I used a "notebook" punch to give the illusion of being able to tear the recipes out. Love it and I hope she does too.
Used:
12x12 sparkle paper cut to 11 x 5 1/2". On the long side, score at 10 1/2", 5" and 4 7/8".
Cut 2 pieces of matching designer series paper. One piece for the inside top measuring: 5 1/2 x 4 7/8" and a second piece for the inside bottom measuring: 5 1/2 x 5 1/4". Decorate the outside as you like. I used snowflake charms from Stampin' Up for the outside. I also used white liquid applique to create the "fluffy" snow on the snowmen. The inside recipe cards are cut at: Melon Mambo 4 x 4". White is cut at 4 x 3 3/4". I used a notebook punch on the bottom of the recipe card to represent the ability to "tear" it out. :) Have fun.
